The Netherlands completely stops the astrazeneca vaccine
The Dutch government decided on Saturday to completely stop vaccinating the British sea-CoV vaccine AstraZeneca in the country because of the serious side effects of its use.
Dutch media reported that the arrest was made following reports of deaths from blood clots of people who received the vaccine.
On 15 March, the Dutch Ministry of Health decided to suspend the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for the first time for precautionary reasons.
On Tuesday, German authorities suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for under-60s due to similar concerns.
On Wednesday, however, the European Medicines Agency commented on the German decision, saying that "there is no support to restrict the use of AstraZeneca with any age group."
Last March, reports of unusual blood clots (particularly in the head) prompted some European countries to suspend the use of AstraZeneca for a period of time in all age groups.
However, a report by the European Medicines Agency, published after an evaluation, found that the vaccine was more effective than harmful and recommended its reuse.
